The Minneapolis Police Department is investigating who was behind an auto theft Saturday morning of a truck and trailer with three people in it.
According to police, officers were told that a pickup truck with a food trailer attached was stolen around 8:53 a.m. in the 3400 block of Bloomington Avenue while three people were inside the trailer.
A black sedan, believed to have been used by the suspects, followed the stolen truck and trailer, as well as a white vehicle carrying people who knew those stuck in the trailer.
During the ongoing incident, police said a man and woman inside the trailer jumped as it was moving, sustaining injuries from their escape. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment.
As the stolen truck and trailer approached the intersection of 41st Street and 31st Avenue, police said it crashed with the white vehicle, which had been following the suspects. As a result of the crash, the truck became separated from the trailer and drove off with the white sedan, leaving the trailer.
No one was injured in the crash, including the third person who was still in the trailer.
Minneapolis police said they later located the pickup truck in the 1400 block of 3rd Street South, unoccupied.
No arrests have been made, but police said they are still investigating.
