Waterpark in northeast Minneapolis closed due to glass in pool

The Jim Lupient Waterpark in northeast Minneapolis was closed down on Thursday evening after two people found broken glass in the pool.

Due to state protocols, the pool will be closed for an undetermined period while crews work to thoroughly clean it.

The pool needs to be drained, then fully dry, deep cleaned and refilled. Finally, the water needs to be chemically calibrated. The steps are mandated by the Minnesota Department of Health.

The broken glass was due to some bringing in glass, despite it not being allowed and signage saying it’s prohibited.

Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board (MPRB) says it will provide updates as it figures out when the pool can reopen.
