Vacant house fire leaves 2 Minneapolis firefighters with injuries

A vacant house fire in Minneapolis left two firefighters with injuries on Wednesday night.

The Minneapolis Fire Department says that at around 7:30 p.m., crews responded to the 2600 block of Fourth Street North and found flames coming from the back of the second floor and the roof of a boarded-up, multi-unit home.

Fire crews fought the blaze on multiple levels of the home, and additional help was requested.

Authorities say there was evidence of homeless people who had been inside the home; however, no one was found inside.

After about 45 minutes, the fire was contained.

Two Minneapolis firefighters were injured in the fire — one brought the hospital for heat exhaustion and another treated at the scene for a minor burn. MFD adds that no one else was injured.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
