Haier’s Diego Perrone to steer company’s business strategy

Electrolux has hired former Haier and Whirlpool exec Diego Perrone as its new chief strategy officer, heading the company’s Business Development unit. 

In his new role, effective July 8, Perrone will be responsible for business strategy and mergers & acquisitions. He will be based at Electrolux global headquarters in Stockholm, where he will join the ranks of senior management and report directly to CEO Yannick Fierling. 

He succeeds Vincent Rotger, who now heads product line wellbeing and small domestic appliances.

Perrone joins Electrolux from Haier Smart Home, where he served as managing director for UK and Ireland. He previously led Haier’s Europe Cooling Business Unit, and before that held a number of key roles at Whirlpool’s Europe, Middle East and Asia group (EMEA), following a stint with global management consultancy Kearney.  

“On behalf of everyone in Group Management, I want to wish Diego a warm welcome,” Fierling said. “He’s stepping in at the perfect time; our new strategy is one I believe in strongly, and I also believe strongly in Diego to help us make it happen.” 

Perrone’s appointment follows a major strategic pact with Chinese white-goods giant Midea, under which both companies will jointly design, manufacture and sell appliances in North America.

“Joining Electrolux now is incredibly exciting,” Perrone said. “I have strong conviction in the new strategic direction, and I look forward to actively driving it and being part of the transformation the group is undergoing.”
