Wamser released from jail after bond reduced to $50,000

Bond for a man charged with 49 counts of possession and distribution of child pornography, criminal possession of a pipe bomb, possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, multiple counts of aggravated assault and terroristic threatening has been reduced from $400,000 to $50,000 and he has been released from jail.
Sixty-one-year-old Michael Raymond Wamser has three felony cases open on him. The original allegations led investigators to discover other instances of suspected law breaking and the filing of additional charges.

Wamser does have significant health issues and requires a number of prescribed medications. Prosecuting Attorney David Ethredge said the health issues played a role in his decision not to object to the bond reduction. But, more importantly, he said his agreement hinged on stringent conditions being put on the bond.

The conditions include putting Wamser under house arrest, allowing him to leave his home for a very narrow list of activities, including visits with doctors, his lawyer and court appearances.

He is not allowed to have contact with any minors or have social media accounts. He is also required to wear an electronic monitoring device and to pay the monthly cost for the device.

A violation of any of the conditions could result in Wamser being returned to jail and held until his trial, a plea is entered in his case or the charges against him are dismissed.

In the original case, filed in late July last year, Wamser was charged with threatening to shoot another male living on his property and engaging in a tense standoff with Baxter County sheriff’s deputies while armed with a handgun.

Wamser who lists an address along Fout Road, is charged with three counts of aggravated assault, terroristic threatening, disorderly conduct and obstruction of governmental operations.
When officers recently served a search warrant to check for suspected Child Sexual Abuse Material(CSAM), they also found a pipe bomb, drugs, psychedelic mushrooms, suspected Kratom, digital scales and various items of paraphernalia used to ingest drugs.

When Wamser showed up for a court appearance on April 27 in his initial case, he was arrested on new charges.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Wamser was arrested at the court complex for safety reasons. When he was picked up on his initial charges, Wamser had been armed, refused commands and presented a threat to the responding deputies.

The large number of images meeting the CSAM criteria included pictures and videos of nude pre-pubescent males and females engaged in a variety of sex acts, many with adults.

There were also 100 images depicting bestiality.

ORIGINAL CASE

On July 26, 2025, just before 9:15 p.m., sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the Fout Road address. Wamser said a man was living on his property and he wanted him to leave or he would shoot him.
The man was later identified as Wamser’s caretaker.

Dispatchers also warned that Wamser appeared suicidal and was refusing to put down the gun he had in his possession.

According to reports, deputies found Wamser sitting in a motorized wheelchair on his driveway with a 45-caliber pistol on his lap.

He was ordered to get rid of the weapon and to show his hands. Wamser repeatedly refused the commands and shouted “shoot me, shoot me” at one point. He was also said to have hurled profane remarks at the lawmen.

Wamser was reported to have waved the gun in the air and, at times, pointed it toward the deputies. He claimed to have additional firearms in his home and that the pistol he had “was nothing” compared to the firearms inside the residence.

During a search of the home about 50 weapons were located in what was described as a “designated gun room.” They were all confiscated by the state.

Wamser was said to have briefly retreated into the residence before coming back outside unarmed. He did, however, continue to yell at the deputies. One deputy was able to approach him from behind and successfully detained him.

Deputies recovered a pistol containing 7 rounds, but none were chambered. A cellphone and red knife were also taken into evidence.

Wamser was transported to the Baxter County Detention Center.
The caretaker Wamser had threatened lived in a camper on the property. He said he was unaware of any conflict between the two.

He told deputies he had not spoken to Wamser that day.

No one was reported injured during the incident.
