10 charges filed against man after he attacks mother, body slams family member, fights deputies

A Stone County man is facing ten charges after he was intoxicated and attacked his mother, body slammed another family member and fought with deputies at the jail. Two of the charges against 28-year-old Damen Paul Thomas of Fox are felonies.According to the probable cause affidavit from the Stone County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a house in Fox because Thomas was reportedly highly intoxicated and fighting with family members. Thomas was detained and was being placed in a patrol car when he started resisting. The deputy was able to get him into the vehicle, but when Thomas tried to get back out, the deputy had to use his Taser to drive stun him to get him back in.
It was learned Thomas fought with several people at the residence, including attacking his mother and body slamming another person. Two children were in immediate danger of injury including a two-month old and Thomas’ daughter whom he dragged down the stairs causing an injury.

Once at the jail, Thomas fought with three deputies while being booked in. After a Taser was deployed, Thomas was subdued and he was placed in a cell. Two of the deputies received minor injuries.

Thomas is facing felony charges of second degree battery and first degree endangering the welfare of a minor. Misdemeanor charges include three counts of first degree assault on a family or household member along with single counts of first degree assault, third degree domestic battery, impairing the operation of a vital public facility and resisting arrest. He is free after posting $30,000 bond.
