PARK CREST – Three people were displaced after flames wrecked a home here overnight.
Crews were called to a home at 38 Williams Street in Ryan Township just after 2am for a reported house fire.
Flames could be seen a mile away as the first units were on the way, Deputy Chief Matt Morgan told the Sentinel.
A tanker task force was initially called as crews arrived to find a multi-story home well-involved.
The fire was brought under control within about 40 minutes followed by extensive overhaul.
No resident injuries were reported though a cat perished in the blaze.
One person was in the home at the time of the fire, Morgan said. He was able to get himself and the family dog out safely thanks to a smoke detector supplied by the Ryan Township Fire Co.
The fire is not suspicious, Morgan said, and the American Red Cross is assisting the three residents.
Firefighters from Ryan Township, Mahanoy City, Hometown, Delano, Englewood, Shenandoah, Ringtown, Tuscarora, Walker Township, Weatherly, and more responded to assist.
