BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Constellation Stage & Screen has announced its 2026-27 season, marking the Bloomington theater company’s fifth anniversary with four Mainstage shows, two Constellation for Kids productions and a new holiday special event.
The season will include thrillers, classic drama, farce, magic and family musicals, with productions scheduled at the Waldron Arts Center. Season ticket packages are on sale now, with ticket redemption beginning June 10. Single tickets go on sale July 15.
Constellation will open the season with “Heist” by Arun Lakra, running Sept. 3-20, 2026, at the Waldron Auditorium. The play, originally commissioned at Constellation by Susan and David Jones, is inspired by caper films such as “Ocean’s Eleven” and “The Sting” and follows a group of criminals reuniting for one last job.
The fall lineup continues with “Goosebumps The Musical: Phantom of the Auditorium,” based on the books by R.L. Stine. The Halloween-season musical is scheduled for Oct. 30-Nov. 15, 2026, at the Waldron Auditorium.
For the holidays, Constellation will stage “Annie” from Dec. 10, 2026, through Jan. 3, 2027, at the Waldron Auditorium. The family musical tells the story of an orphan whose optimism carries her from a New York City orphanage to a new home.
The company also will debut “The ConstelLate Show: Holiday Special,” a new Bloomington-focused holiday variety event scheduled for Dec. 17-27, 2026, in the Waldron Firebay. The event is described as part talk show, part variety show, featuring local guests, performers and personalities. It is not included in season ticket packages, but pass holders will receive early access to tickets.
Constellation will open 2027 with “An Enemy of the People,” Amy Herzog’s Tony-nominated adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s play about a small-town doctor who discovers a public health catastrophe and faces pressure from those in power to stay silent. The production is scheduled for Feb. 4-21, 2027, at the Waldron Auditorium.
In the spring, Constellation will present the United States premiere of “Mojo & Jimmy: The Totally Awesome Magic Show” as part of its PB&J Cafe dinner theater for kids. The show, originally developed at Constellation, was created by World Champion of Magic Simon Coronel and “America’s Got Talent” semifinalist Dom Chambers. It is scheduled for March 26-April 11, 2027.
The Mainstage season will close with Sandy Rustin’s farce “The Cottage,” scheduled for May 13-30, 2027, at the Waldron Auditorium. The comedy follows the fallout after a woman decides to expose her affair to both her husband and her lover’s wife.
Constellation also announced the Stage Door Circle, a Sunday playgoing club for women of all ages. The group will attend first Sunday afternoon performances of Constellation’s Mainstage series and gather afterward for a social reception.
The company said it will continue Pay What You Will Thursdays and Community Access Tickets to help make professional theater more affordable in South Central Indiana. Pay What You Will Thursdays will be available for all Mainstage shows, including the second Thursday performance of “Annie” on Dec. 17, 2026.
Constellation also will offer two sensory-friendly performances as part of its Constellation for Kids series. Those performances, designed for families with children with autism or other sensory sensitivities, will be offered on the final Sunday performances of “Goosebumps The Musical: Phantom of the Auditorium” and “Mojo & Jimmy: The Totally Awesome Magic Show.” Tickets for sensory-friendly performances will be Pay What You Will.
