Tangled Remake Cast Adds Andor Actor Diego Luna as New Character Created Just for the Live-Action Movie
Andor actor Diego Luna has reportedly boarded the cast of the Disney live-action Tangled remake in a mystery role created specifically for the new movie.
News of the addition comes from The Hollywood Reporter, which reports that the star has signed on to appear alongside previously announced stars Teagan Croft as Rapunzel and Milo Manheim and Milo Manheim. Details about who exactly he’ll play remain under wraps, but it is said that his character was created specifically for the remake.
Star Wars fans will recognize Luna as Cassian Andor in the sci-fi universe’s Rogue One prequel, as well as its Andor spinoff. His acting credits date back long before he joined the galaxy far, far away, though, as his resume includes other noteworthy roles in films like Frida, Milk, and Elysium.
Luna’s addition to the Tangled remake’s cast comes as a late surprise ahead of plans to begin filming in Spain this June. The live-action reimagination was first reported on in December 2024 before Disney paused its plans following the release of Snow White in 2025.
Tangled’s return to the big screen picked back up late last year. After Scarlett Johansson passed on the role of Mother Gothel, it was announced that fan-pick Kathryn Hahn had joined to play the role of the villain instead. The Greatest Showman and Better Man filmmaker Michael Gracey will direct.
The Tangled remake currently has no release date. While we wait to see how Disney plans to introduce a new character with Luna in its live-action movie, you can read about why audiences never got a proper Tangled 2.
