Two arrested after interstate shooting near I-465, I-69 in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — Two men were arrested after a woman reported being shot at Saturday on Interstate 465 near I-69 on the northeast side of Indianapolis, Indiana State Police said.

According to state police, dispatchers received a 911 call at about 1:17 p.m. Saturday, April 25, from a victim who reported that a man in another vehicle had shot at her on I-465.

Investigators said detectives used Flock traffic cameras and other investigative methods to identify the suspect vehicle and two suspects. Police said the vehicle, a gray Ford Escape, had a temporary license plate that was registered to a different vehicle.

On Monday, April 27, state police detectives learned that Lawrence police had stopped the Ford Escape with the same false temporary plate. The driver, identified as Hector Galves Flores, was detained because he did not have a driver’s license, police said. He was later taken to the Indiana State Police Indianapolis Post for questioning in connection with the shooting investigation.

Detectives later identified a second man, Lester Yair Ramos Posadas, 19, who police believe was the passenger in the Ford Escape during the shooting and fired the shots. Ramos Posadas was taken into custody Tuesday, April 28, at an apartment on East 40th Street in Indianapolis by members of the Indiana State Police SWAT Team.

Both men were arrested on preliminary charges of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and intimidation. Police said Ramos Posadas also was wanted on an unrelated federal arrest warrant.

Formal charges will be determined by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office after review of the case. Both men were being held in the Marion County Jail. All charges are allegations, and both men are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
