The launch targets streaming providers and broadcasters under pressure to turn record rights spending into stickier viewing. Global sports rights outlay is projected to top $78 billion by 2030, per Ampere Analysis, while many workflows for highlights and navigation remain manual and hard to scale.
The suite’s capabilities include configurable, automated match highlights delivered within minutes of a game’s end; real-time detection of key moments tailored to a sport, competition or audience; and AI-generated chapters that let viewers jump to specific segments without spoilers. It also tags and surfaces shoulder content such as interviews, lineups, press conferences and analysis across linear and VOD environments. Football support will be available ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with ice hockey and basketball to follow.
In a proof-of-concept with Liberty Global, 77% of subscribers said a “Follow a Sport” feature led them to watch content they otherwise would have missed, and 67% said it kept sports viewing within the Liberty Global environment that they would typically watch elsewhere.
“Sports has become the new battleground for viewer loyalty,” said Roland Sars, Media Distillery CEO. “Our goal is simple: help every fan find the moments they care about instantly, on any platform.”
Media Distillery will demo the Sports Engagement Suite at StreamTV Europe in Lisbon this month. More details and demo requests: https://mediadistillery.com/solutions/sports-engagement-suite
