The solution, developed in cooperation with ai-coustics, was first demonstrated at IBC 2025 and is now fully deliverable on a license basis for new and existing XD3 modules. The company will showcase the technology at the NAB Show in Las Vegas, April 18-22, in Booth C3132.
“The AI-based noise reduction process is much more effective than traditional filter-based tools,” Christoph Gottert, DHD international sales manager, said. “Potential applications include the reduction of background distractions from source content — such as sports commentaries or traffic noise from outdoor news reports. Processing intensity can be adjusted quickly and easily at a DHD mixing console or remotely.”
Three stereo instances can be run in parallel on a single XD3 core. The cores serve as the central processor for DHD systems, handling audio for control surfaces including the RX2, SX2, DX2 and TX2. The units also perform routing and interfacing via Audinate Dante, AES67/RAVENNA, AES3/EBU, Gigabit Audio and analogue.
The XD3 range includes three modules: a controller and IP core, a 12k router extension and a DSP extension. These can operate individually or in redundancy mode as a synchronous main and standby pair with seamless switching.
The standard XD3 IP core uses a single DSP processor supporting up to 24 faders and 48 summing busses. Higher-capacity versions include a three-DSP model for 64 faders and a five-DSP version for 96 faders and 126 summing busses. Each module uses 40-bit floating-point processing for fader channels and summing operations. Additional memory for channel and program delay is added with each DSP module.
