Owen County authorities seek public’s help locating missing 17-year-old

SPENCER, Ind. — April 2, 2026
The Owen County Sheriff’s Office and Indiana State Police investigators are asking for the public’s help in locating a runaway juvenile last seen Tuesday in the Cunot area.
Lexie M. Mitchell, 17, was reported missing after investigators learned she may have left the area around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, according to a news release issued Thursday by Indiana State Police Bloomington District.
Mitchell is described as a white female with long red or auburn hair and blue-green eyes. She was last seen wearing blue jeans and a white windbreaker-style jacket and may also be wearing white boots.
Authorities said anyone with information about Mitchell’s whereabouts should contact their local law enforcement agency or the Owen County Sheriff’s Office at 812-829-4874. Tips may be provided anonymously.
Indiana State Police said investigators from the Bloomington District are assisting the Owen County Sheriff’s Office in the search.
