Another Coffee Concept Proposed on Highway 64

A new drive-thru coffee shop may soon join the rapidly developing U.S. Highway 64 corridor, signaling continued commercial growth in one of the city’s busiest areas.

According to a notice distributed to nearby residents and property owners, the Lakeland Municipal Planning Commission is scheduled to meet on Thursday, April 9, at 5:30 p.m. at Lakeland City Hall to review a proposal for a Dutch Bros Coffee location. The proposed development would sit on approximately 0.75 acres at 8872 U.S. Highway 64.

The addition would further expand the corridor’s growing mix of coffee and quick-service establishments. The Dutch Bros Coffee location would be next to Shadrachs Coffee and down the street from Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts. U.S. Highway 64 has experienced steady commercial development in recent years, attracting a range of businesses drawn to the area’s increasing traffic and visibility.

The proposed project also reflects a broader trend of drive-thru-focused concepts clustering along the corridor, contributing to both convenience for residents and ongoing discussions about traffic flow and site planning in the area.

The April 9 meeting will provide an opportunity for public input as Lakeland leaders continue to evaluate new developments shaping the future of the Highway 64 corridor.
