Hollingsworth elected next Baxter County Sheriff with large voter turnout

Hollingsworth Live on KTLO following Tuesday’s victory





Mark Hollingsworth will be the next sheriff in Baxter County following Tuesday’s runoff election that saw heavy voter turnout.

With 3,278 votes Hollingsworth defeated Brian Davis who received 2,324 votes. 954 votes separated the two candidates with Hollingsworth claiming 58 percent of votes to Davis’ 42 percent of voter support.

KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News spoke with Sheriff elect Hollingsworth live at the Baxter County Courthouse Tuesday evening following the news of his victory.

77 percent of the voters that participated in the March 3 primary returned to cast votes in the runoff election with 5,602 total votes cast for the Sheriff’s race. Election Commissioners and the County Clerk, Canda Reese were very impressed by the high voter engagement Tuesday with the evening marking one of the strongest turnouts ever for a runoff, rivaling some past primaries.

Hollingsworth took time to recognize his predecessor and the strong field of candidates that ran for the office.

The next Sheriff will be focused on implementing body cameras, training and physical fitness requirements for officers.

Mark Hollingsworth goes onto the General Election in November unopposed and will take the office of Sheriff of Baxter County in January of 2027.
