PlayStation Announces Project Playmo, Its Next-Generation PS5 DualSense Controller That Will Change How You Play Games Forever
PlayStation has officially announced Project Playmo, its next-generation DualSense controller that can literally play games for you, act as an opponent in a fighting game to help improve your skills, and even order you a pizza with the power of AI.
While we don’t have a release date or pricing yet, Sony did reveal an exciting trailer that hints at the promise of this AI-powered copilot for PS5 owners. As you can see in the footage, all you have to do is ask Playmo to, for example, help you become a better driver in Gran Turismo 7.
Without skipping a beat, Playmo kicks in, takes the wheel, and demonstrates how, if you widen your approach from the outside and then hug the inside curb, you can cut your lap time dramatically. We then see Playmo helping the player overcome a tough boss, hop into a fighting game as Player 2, and it even has access to your accounts to help you make in-game purchases.
It’s simple to imagine how Playmo playing our games for us in the future will make things much easier, including allowing us to keep up with scrolling on TikTok or Instagram now that faster load times have taken that away from us.
Playmo goes beyond games as well; it can change your Online ID (Reminder: your first change is free, and any after will cost $9.99!), and even play back your Voice Chat history. Yes, you can soon relive your proudest gaming moments and even share with your Mom that time you took down NoobToob720p and gave that totally PG victory speech that inspired millions.
Oh, and did we mention Playmo can even order you Pizza? Because it totally can, and you should probably share some with it as it knows you’ve been playing Xbox behind its back, even though you told it you’d be exclusive. As you can see, Playmo never forgets.
So, move aside Project Helix, as an Xbox that is both a console and a PC seems to pale in comparison to an AI-powered friend that is always there, whether you like it or not.
To close, we just want to mention that it’s thanks to advancements in AI technology that a gaming co-pilot like Playmo can be brought to life… that, and of course, because today is the first of April!
