
HOMETOWN – State troopers have released the name of the worker they say was killed in an industrial accident in Rush Township.
Marco Poveda, 36, was identified as the victim, according to State Police at Frackville.
He was killed Saturday afternoon in an apparent heavy equipment mishap at a manufacturing facility in the former J.E. Knitting Mills complex at 143 Mahanoy Avenue in Hometown.
Multiple businesses operate out of the plant. Authorities have not confirmed which plant the man was working in.
A spokesperson for the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) confirmed to the Sentinel that an investigation has been opened related to the incident. The investigation can take up to six months.
State troopers are continuing to investigate as well.
