The winner matched all five white balls — 4, 13, 52, 53, and 69 — but missed the Mega Ball of 10. That $1 million base prize tripled because the player picked the Megaplier option, state lottery officials said, according to My Central Jersey.com.
Nobody hit all six numbers to win the $60 million jackpot in Tuesday’s drawing. The prize climbs to $70 million for Friday’s drawing, with a cash payout of $31.5 million.
California had another second-prize winner. That ticket brought in $3,665,298 for the same drawing. Prizes out west work differently—they shift based on how many tickets are sold and winners claimed.
Winners get one year from the drawing date to collect their money, per New Jersey Lottery rules. Officials haven’t said who bought the ticket.
Matching five numbers? Your odds sit at 1 in 12,629,232. Want the jackpot? You’re looking at 1 in 290,472,336. Any prize at all comes in at 1 in 23.
You can buy Mega Millions tickets in 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings happen twice each week.
