Fourth Wing Is Getting the Monopoly Treatment With an Officially Licensed Board Game for Adults Only

Rebecca Yarros’ Empyrean series has produced some of the most popular romantasy books the genre has ever seen. With the release of Onyx Storm last year taking the best-seller charts by storm and a Fourth Wing TV series currently in the works, this sexy fantasy world is quickly becoming a major entertainment franchise. And like pretty much every other big entertainment franchise that has ever existed, there’s soon to be a Monopoly version of it.

Monopoly Fourth Wing Edition is up for preorder at Amazon now with a release date of July 15, 2026. Just like the books themselves, this board game adaptation is meant for adults only with a 17+ age rating.

Monopoly Fourth Wing Edition Is Up for Preorder

Fourth Wing Monopoly looks like it functions like regular Monopoly, but with a ton of easter eggs sprinkled in from the books. Instead of the classic game pieces, there are seven different colored metal dragon pieces representing the different types of dragons in the game. This includes Violet Sorrengail’s Tairn (Black) and Andarna (Golden Feathertail) as well as Xaden’s Blue daggertail Sgaeyl. The game also replaces the usual property pieces with Outposts and Strongholds which can be used to claim notable locations from the books, like the Parapet, the Gauntlet, and Aretia.

As for why this game is only for adults, I can only assume it’s because of the adult content associated with Violet and Xaden’s steamy relationship. After scanning the preview images, I couldn’t find any specific adult-themed content shown. However, one of the locations is Violet’s bedroom, so there’s likely at least a few tidbits of the story in this game that earn it that 17+ age rating.

Another Fourth Wing Game Also Released Last Year

The Monopoly Fourth Wing Edition is the first board game adaptation of the Empyrean series, but it isn’t the first tabletop game we’ve seen. The Fourth Wing Edition of Priorities was released last year, which is more of a party game that uses cards. The game is fairly simple: There’s a huge stack of cards featuring things from the books and players pull five cards and rank them from best to worst. Since it’s a Fourth Wing Edition of the game, there is one Wingleader and the rest of the players are part of the Iron Squad.
