According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Monroe County Central Emergency Dispatch received a 911 call at 2:51 p.m. March 28 reporting a structure fire in the 7000 block of South Strain Ridge Road.
Deputies with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and crews from the Monroe Fire Protection District were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters began battling the blaze and recovered a deceased woman from inside the home, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Monroe County Coroner’s Office will release the woman’s name and cause of death after next of kin has been notified, authorities said.

Photos posted on Facebook showed the house fully engulfed as firefighters arrived, with flames shooting from the sides of the structure.
At about 4:30 p.m., firefighters were still using chainsaws to cut into the roof of the smoking home and spraying water on hot spots.
As the coroner remained at the scene, people gathered across the street and grieved for the woman found inside.
