Six injured in single-vehicle rollover crash Sunday morning on I-69 in Monroe County

Staff report

Bloomington, Ind. – March 29, 2026

Six people, including four children, were injured Sunday morning in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 69 in Monroe County, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched at 7:41 a.m. March 29 to a crash with injuries near mile marker 107.5 in the northbound lanes of I-69.

A preliminary investigation found that a 37-year-old man from Mooresville was driving a 2025 Ford Explorer when the vehicle left the roadway, entered the median and rolled over, the sheriff’s office said.

A 37-year-old woman and four children were also inside the SUV. Some of the occupants were trapped and had to be extricated by firefighters with the Monroe Fire Protection District.

All six occupants suffered significant injuries and were taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital, according to the sheriff’s office. One child was later transferred to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said the Major Crash Investigation Team responded to the scene and is actively investigating the crash. The driver is cooperating with investigators.

The crash was separate from other recent I-69 incidents in Monroe County, including a fatal truck rollover recently in Greene County and a multi-vehicle northbound crash last week that closed the interstate for more than two hours.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has video footage is asked to contact the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office at 812-349-2781.
