‘No Kings’ protest in Concord was one of hundreds around the country expected to draw millions of demonstrators
Jennifer Adams considers herself an independent voter.
Still, she came to the State House on Saturday to participate in one of the “No Kings” protests happening around the country to rally against the policies of President Donald Trump.
Adams, of Antrim said she’s open to Republican candidates and policies, just not Trump and his overblown ego.
“If the Republicans came up with somebody who represented our country and not kissing the ring, let me put it that way, of a certain someone, then I would vote for whoever that person is,” she said.
Adams wore an outfit adorned with political cartoons from former Washington Post artist Anne Telnaes, similar to the one she wore to a protest in October.
“It’s a matter of showing them what’s happening, as opposed to people saying, ‘I’ve seen enough. I can’t pay attention anymore. Just bury my head,’” Adams said. ” It’s too important. You can’t bury your head
U.S. organizers estimated that the first two rounds of No Kings rallies drew more than 5 million people in June and 7 million in October. They expected 9 million participants Saturday at more than 3,100 events — 500 more than in October — in all 50 states.
The White House was dismissive of the national protests, characterizing them as the product of “leftist funding networks” with little real public support.
The “only people who care about these Trump Derangement Therapy Sessions are the reporters who are paid to cover them,” White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson said in a statement.
The National Republican Congressional Committee was also sharply critical.
“These Hate America Rallies are where the far-left’s most violent, deranged fantasies get a microphone,” NRCC spokesperson Maureen O’Toole said.
Material from the Associated Press was used in this report.
