BELCHERTOWN— A suspect is in custody in connection with a fatal shooting at 111 Daniel Shays Highway in Belchertown, the Northwestern district attorney’s office said in a statement late Saturday afternoon.
The DA’s office said the shooting occurred shortly after 5 p.m. on Friday. No other details were released, other than there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
The suspect is scheduled to be arraigned in Eastern Hampshire District Court on Monday.
The Daniel Shays Highway location where the shooting took place is part of the Summer Hill Estates condominium complex.
The case remains under active investigation by the Belchertown Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
