
The magazine surveyed over 89,000 female workers from coast to coast. Researchers examined 120 measurements. These included gender equality, fairness, inclusion, how open companies are with information, keeping employees happy over years, whether women stay or leave, how managers act, and who runs things.
Job seekers can use the ranking when they weigh which companies to work for. Organizations also study it to see how they stack up against competitors, the publication says. The list arrives as workplaces get pushed harder to help employees — especially women, whose paychecks and promotions still lag behind.
Census Bureau numbers show the wage gap between men and women grew wider for two years running in 2025.
“Workplace quality is increasingly defined by how well companies support their people over time,” said Editor-in-Chief Jennifer Cunningham, according to NJBiz.com. “This year’s list highlights organizations that are performing well across the factors that matter most to women navigating today’s workforce.”
Thirteen Garden State businesses got five-star ratings. RWJBarnabas Health in West Orange, Atlantic Health in Morristown, Cooper University Health Care in Camden, and BAYADA in Pennsauken all scored top marks in hospitals and health care.
Drug makers Bayer in Whippany and Bristol Myers Squibb in Princeton also grabbed five stars. Prudential Financial and PSEG — both based in Newark — made the top tier for money services and utilities.
ADP in Roseland earned five stars. So did Academy Bus in Hoboken, Coldwell Banker Realty in Madison, Conduent in Florham Park, and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts in Parsippany.
Nine companies scored 4.5-star ratings. Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick made that group. The Campbell’s Co. in Camden and Quest Diagnostics in Secaucus did too. Eleven firms received four-star ratings — Verizon in Basking Ridge, Virtua Health in Marlton, and ShopRite in Keasbey among them.
Other companies honored nationwide include Alaska Airlines, UPS, American Express, Google, Bank of America, and Amazon. This marks the fourth year for the ranking.
