Through contest, middle schoolers learn, show ‘What’s So Cool About Manufacturing’

SHENANDOAH – Local middle schoolers and businesses once again are taking part in the annual What’s So Cool About Manufacturing video contest.

The contest is put on by the Manufacturers Resource Center and draws 33 middle school teams from across Berks and Schuylkill counties, including Shenandoah Valley, Mahanoy Area, and North Schuylkill.

Local businesses, like Mrs. T’s Pierogies here in town and Blaschak Anthracite, invited the teams in to film their entry. A team from D.H.H. Lengel Middle School in Pottsville visited the Mrs. T’s plant on the east end.

Shenandoah Valley visited Hexcel Corporation near Saint Clair while Mahanoy Area stopped by Ashland Technologies, Inc., and North Schuylkill visited EMD Electronics.

The teams are competing for various judged awards and a Viewers’ Choice Award. Voting opened for the latter at midnight.
