Riftbound, the League of Legends trading card game that’s taken the world by storm since it released last year, is already gearing up to launch its third expansion, Unleashed.
As with any new TCG expansion, Unleashed will introduce a nice variety of new mechanics and keywords, and today we’re happy to show off the Overnumbered and Signature versions of a new Legend that uses the new XP/ Level mechanic.
Here’s Master Yi, Wuju Master in his stunning Overnumbered art by Shawn Lee, unmasked in card art for the second time.
Master Yi, Wuju Master marks the first time in Riftbound that a League of Legends characters is featured on two different Legend cards, and this time around he’s focused around one of the new abilities. By holding or conquering a battlefield, if your unit has the new Hunt ability, you’ll gain 1 XP. There are a few other ways to gain XP through card effects, but Hunt seems to be the main way, especially when in synergy with Master Yi, Wuju Master. His static Level abilities are active when you’ve accrued enough XP, so building around this mechanic will help bulk up your units and support a more aggressive gameplan.
To help keep track of your XP gained and spent, you can find an XP tracker token in booster packs. But any sort of method should suffice, such as using dice or pen and paper.
Check out the slideshow below to also see the Signature version of the card.
Master Yi’s previous Legend from Origins centered around getting a +2 Might increase when defending, so this new version is a bit different if you played that deck when it was meta. Many of the cards used in that version might still fit well into this shell, but with Unleashed’s focus on Hunt cards and gaining XP, it’s a safe bet that deck building philosophy around this Legend will prefer new cards.
Riftbound Unleashed is set to launch in China on April 10 and in English on May 8. For more Riftbound news, the game’s first State of the Game update offered a much deeper look at their plans throughout the rest of 2026.
