In an era of rapid shifts, how does a local newsroom remain a trusted source of news and information for its community? The Concord Monitor is hosting its inaugural “Meet the Monitor” event at the Concord Public Library on March 31 to explore how a local newsroom operates and the roadmap for its growth.
The session will cover the Monitor’s news process in the digital age, the utilization of emerging technologies like AI to improve reporting, engagement efforts to reach all demographics in the community and philanthropic ways to support local journalism.
The event also gives the community an opportunity to meet staff members face-to-face and ask questions. In a landscape where people distrust the news they see online, or believe it has a bias, the Monitor wants to be a beacon of in-depth, truthful information and to hear from the community on how to improve.
“There’s nothing more important to us than hearing from subscribers and meeting prospective readers,” said publisher Steve Leone. “We’ll share what we’re working on, how we’re changing and how we see local media evolving — but this is more than just a presentation. It’s a conversation, and we want to hear your questions, ideas and concerns.”
The event will be held Tuesday, March 31, at the Concord Public Library on 45 Green St. at 6 p.m. If you would like to submit questions for this event, please send them to letters@cmonitor.com. The event is free. You can register at concordpubliclibrary.net/librarycalendar.
