WESTON PLACE – A Weston Place man is in Schuylkill County Prison, accused of sexually assaulting a young girl.

Edwin Casiano, 48, was charged Monday with felony aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors, misdemeanor indecent assault, and endangering the welfare of children.

According to the criminal complaint filed by West Mahanoy Township Police Chief Matt Williams, authorities received a tip on Feb. 4 from a school teacher regarding alleged inappropriate contact between Casiano and a child.

The activity had occurred on Dec. 24, in which Casiano is accused of kissing the child, pulling her pants and underwear down and touching her genitals, according to an interview conducted the UPMC Child Advocacy Center in Harrisburg.

Casiano was interviewed by township police on March 12 and told officers he did not recall such an incident happening, but noted that he had been drinking that night.

He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker and committed to Schuylkill County Prison, unable to post $150,000 straight cash bail. A preliminary hearing is set for April 2 in Shenandoah.
