Stranger Things: The Complete Series Is Up for Preorder on 4K and Blu-ray
Since it debuted in 2016, if you wanted to watch the mega-blockbuster show Stranger Things, you had to shell out for a Netflix subscription. That’s about to change. A new box set of the complete Stranger Things series is now available for preorder on both 4K UHD and Blu-ray at Arrow Video, and on Blu-ray at Amazon. The 4K listings are up at Amazon, but they’re not available to preorder at the time of this writing.
Pricing starts at $180 and the release date is July 28. It’s available in a standard edition and a deluxe edition that comes with some fun extras. Read on for the details.
The 25 disc deluxe edition comes with the following:
The Blu-ray version of the deluxe edition comes with all the same extras, but it costs a bit less.
The (also) 25-disc standard edition has all the same on-disc bonus features as the deluxe edition, but it lacks most of the physical extras (thing slike the patch, art cards, and d20 die). Here’s what you get in the standard edition:
So far, we have two options for where to place your preorder: Amazon and Arrow Video.
Amazon is generally an extremely reliable retailer when it comes to preorders. It doesn’t charge your credit card until the item ships, so you can place your preorder without a hit to your bank account until July. If the item is delayed for any reason, you won’t be out any cash until it’s actually in the mail.
Amazon also has a “preorder price guarantee,” which means, after you place your preorder, you’ll only have to pay the lowest price it drops, even if it goes back up before launch. Amazon’s preorder pricing can fluctuate a surprising amount leading up to launch. But if you lock in your preorder early, you’re guaranteed to get the best possible price.
That said, at the time of this writing, Arrow has lower prices. It has all versions of Stranger Things on sale for up to 15% off MSRP. Now, Amazon may well match those prices in the coming days. But for now, you can get a better price by preordering from Arrow Video.
