LTN And Appear Partner On Scalable IP-Native Video’

LTN, a provider of fully managed IP video transport, and Appear, which offers live production technology, are collaborating to provide an integrated solution for premium live event contribution and distribution, combining Appear’s X Platform with LTN’s managed global IP network.

The infrastructure model targets mission-critical live sports and events. Malik Khan, LTN executive chairman-co-founder, said: “The satellite-to-IP transition is no longer theoretical. Broadcasters are operating IP at scale today. By combining Appear’s best-in-class encoding with LTN’s fully managed global network, we’re delivering the infrastructure and execution layer required to power that shift.”

Appear’s X Platform provides high-density encoding and decoding supporting JPEG XS, JPEG 2000, AVC, HEVC and ST 2110 workflows. Integrated into LTN’s IP backbone, Appear-originated feeds are transported to global destinations.

LTN extends those feeds into distribution, adding point-to-multipoint delivery, conditional access, rights management, multi-language versioning, graphics insertion and metadata enrichment to drive monetization across linear, OTT and FAST platforms. The joint proposition supports onsite production, REMI workflows, centralized production models and hybrid OTT distribution.

“Appear’s technology is trusted by the world’s most demanding live productions,” Ed McGivern, Appear GM North America, said. “Integrating the X Platform within the LTN Network extends that performance across a managed, global distribution backbone — enabling customers to scale with confidence.”

The companies are jointly targeting broadcasters, sports leagues, OTT platforms and service providers seeking an IP-native alternative to legacy distribution models.
