Travel Publication Names 8 Top Garden State Boardwalks for This Summer

Travel + Leisure released its picks for eight must-see boardwalks along New Jersey’s coast. Writers scoured 130 miles of shoreline, hunting for the spots that draw beachgoers each year.

According to app.com, the selections span from north to south: Asbury Park Boardwalk, Ocean City Boardwalk, Avalon Boardwalk, Jenkinson’s Boardwalk, Wildwood Boardwalk, Atlantic City Boardwalk, Seaside Heights Boardwalk, and Sea Isle City Promenade. Monmouth and Ocean County claim three of these destinations.

Asbury Park’s mile-long wooden walkway packs in shops, bars, restaurants, and venues. Kids flock to Silverball Retro Arcade for vintage pinball machines. Mini-golf awaits at Asbury Eighteen and the Splashground. Bands take stages at Wonder Bar or The Stone Pony most nights.

Hungry visitors grab food at The Iron Whale, Maruca’s Tomato Pies, or AP Rooftop. Convention Hall houses several eateries too.

Down in Ocean County, Jenkinson’s Boardwalk delivers carnival thrills. Ring toss and whack-a-mole sit alongside a fun house with mirror mazes. An amusement park anchors the strip. You’ll also find a ropes course, an aquarium, and arcades scattered along the planks.

Joey Tomato’s slings pizza pies while Boardwalk Bar & Grill cooks up nachos, BBQ ribs, lobster rolls, and fresh oysters. Jenkinson’s Sweet Shop has churned out candy apples, fudge, and taffy for over a century.

Seaside Heights stretches two and a half miles. Casino Pier & Breakwater Beach house most rides, games, and attractions here. Coin Castle arcade stocks Skee-Ball, crane machines, slots, and video games for all ages. When heat beats down, SeaSpray Park offers relief.

Lucky Leo’s Sweet Shop tempts passersby with fudge, saltwater taffy, and gummy candy.

Writers at the magazine say these eight destinations capture what makes Jersey Shore boardwalks special — timeless fun with a quirky twist. Their guide helps travelers map out summer getaways to the state’s beaches.
