Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick’s Seat Could ‘Decide the Majority in November.’ He Was Just Listed as One of the ‘Most Vulnerable Republicans in Congress’

Is the Fitzpatrick family’s dynasty representing Bucks and Montgomery counties in the U.S. House of Representatives near an end?

Listed among five Republicans in the nation who represent districts Donald Trump lost in the 2024 elections, PA-01’s Republican incumbent Brian Fitzpatrick is noted among the most vulnerable seats in the upcoming 2026 mid-term elections, according to new analysis by Decision Desk HQ. Fitzpatrick joins fellow Republican Congressmen Scott Perry, Ryan Mackenzie and Robert Bresnahan on the election organization’s list of the “most vulnerable GOP-held House seats in 2026.“

And Trump might not be able to keep the GOP House Majority without him.

“After nearly 10 years of Brian Fitzpatrick in Washington, Bucks and Montgomery families are recognizing that he has failed to make life more affordable,” said DCCC spokesperson Eli Cousin. “Grocery prices are up, health care premiums are skyrocketing, and working class families are getting squeezed. Pennsylvanians deserve a congressman who will stand up to Trump and actually do something to lower prices – but Fitzpatrick is weak and caves to his own party when it matters most.” 

Fitzpatrick began his first term in 2017 when he initially took over representing the then eight congressional district from his late brother Michael Fitzpatrick, who retired in 2016 because he believed in term limits. After redistricting, all of Bucks County and a sliver of Montgomery County is now part of Pennsylvania’s first congressional district.  

Fitzpatrick represents a district that Trump lost in 2024. Then in 2025 voters delivered a “Blue Wave” in Bucks County – up and down the ballot.

Fitzpatrick’s voting record makes him particularly vulnerable this year, with his support for cost-spiking tariffs, giving Trump a ‘blank check’ with his war on Iran (which has cost taxpayers $11.3 billion in just its first week), his refusal to sign a discharge petition to allow a vote to release the Epstein Files and his failure to block Trump and the GOP’s devastating health care cuts when he had the chance. 

Fitzpatrick also voted for the controversial SAVE America Act, which if signed into law could disenfranchise millions of eligible voters, including married women, domestic abuse survivors and transgender individuals.

Independent news outlet NOTUS (News of the United States) also reported Fitzpatrick’s seat is at risk from Democratic challenger Bob Harvie, currently vice chairperson of Bucks County Commissioners, and a former long-time Falls Township supervisor. However, Harvie has to first defeat upstart progressive  Democratic challenger Lucia Simonelli in the May primary. 

“Brian Fitzpatrick has been the deciding vote serving the interests of Donald Trump and billionaires while working families are left paying the price,” said Harvie.

Harvie pointed to Fitzpatrick’s votes “chaotic tariff policies” which have left working families with higher grocery store and home improvement costs, while the war in Iran is set to cause gasoline and utility prices to soar.

“Brian Fitzpatrick voted in favor of giving more power to Donald Trump for his war with Iran, working families are paying higher gas prices. Brian Fitzpatrick was the deciding vote on Trump’s budget bill; working families are left with massive cuts to healthcare and are left with less food on their table. Brian Fitzpatrick failed to pass the ACA Tax credits, working families are paying for higher health care premiums,” Harvie added.
