NTSB: Pilot killed in Poplar Grove plane crash was not in contact with air traffic control
Richard McClung, a convicted sex offender, crashed his amateur-built plane in Poplar Grove, Illinois, after being radio silent during the 15-minute flight, resulting in his death.
Poplar Grove residents are continuing to react to a plane crash that occurred in their neighborhood on Valentine's Day. The crash happened while several neighbors were in their homes.
The Boone County Coroner has identified Richard McClung, 83, of Rockford, as the victim of a fatal plane crash in a Poplar Grove neighborhood over the weekend.
