March begins on Sunday. Twenty-one days later spring begins. Something to look forward to — seeing the lawn again.
The Jones Library is anticipating the coming season with a program, “Matrix Planning for Home Gardeners “ March 3 at 7 p.m. via Zoom. The matrix model, according to the email from Janet Ryan, head of programming and outreach at the library, is where perennials and grasses are used to imitate meadows, Deborah Chud will lead the program. Register by visiting the library web site: www.joneslibrary.org.

If you get an email or text from a friend saying a phone doesn’t work and they need help, ignore the “don’t call message,” CALL. One, the person may answer. Two, you may receive a voicemail request, which means the phone does work. If the person requests financial help, via text or email, reply that you will not send money until you hear from them personally. Be vigilant. You may recognize the name in the message, but the name might not belong to the person you know. I wonder where Dante would have put scammers.

Another adult snow day Monday. On such days I go through drawers or cupboards and find things, some of which surprise me such as a Gateway laptop. I can’t remember when I got it. But the surprise also included how heavy the device was. It has been recycled.
The weather has been a challenge for DPW departments. Thank you to all who plow and sand and salt to keep the roads passable. The snowy weather has been difficult for those who deliver newspapers. I don’t mind a delayed paper. I can read two in one day.
I do have to admit, I find the snow beautiful, especially when the sun comes out and everything sparkles.
