BLOOMINGTON,Ind. — February 26, 2026
A 74-year-old Bloomington woman was killed and three other people, including a child, were injured in a three-vehicle crash Wednesday evening on South Rockport Road, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called at about 6:16 p.m. Feb. 25, 2026, to a report of a traffic crash with injuries near S. Rockport Road at W. Stansifer Court. Preliminary evidence indicates a northbound Subaru crossed left of center into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a Kia, the sheriff’s office said. A third vehicle, a Toyota, then became involved.
The Kia’s driver, a 74-year-old Bloomington woman, was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
The Subaru’s driver, a 48-year-old Bloomington man, was taken to the hospital with injuries. A 7-year-old child who was a passenger in the Subaru was also transported to the hospital with serious injuries, the sheriff’s office said.
The Toyota’s driver, a 58-year-old Bloomington man, was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, according to authorities.
Investigators with the Monroe County Major Crash Investigation Team responded, and the roadway was closed for several hours while reconstruction work was conducted. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional details will be released when they are available, the sheriff’s office said.
