US-26 blocked after semitruck overturns near Wyoming border
SWAN VALLEY — U.S. Highway 26 is blocked on Tuesday afternoon after a semitruck overturned on icy, winter roads.
According to a Facebook post from the Idaho State Police, officers are currently on the scene of an overturned semitruck near milepost 388, approximately 15 miles east of Swan Valley and not far from the Wyoming border near Alpine.
Both lanes are currently blocked as of 2:30 p.m. Idaho 511 says multiple vehicles were involved in the crash, but the number is not clear.
Witnesses say the crash happened around 12:15 p.m. According to Bonneville County Sheriff’s Sgt. Bryan Lovell, the driver of the semi-truck was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. No significant injuries were reported.
Officials say motorists should expect delays. If you are in the area, police ask that you slow down and watch for emergency personnel. Idaho State Police, the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office and the Swan Valley Fire District are both on scene, attempting to clear the road.
