The Arkansas-based chain calls itself a leader in the “better-chicken segment” with a focus on fresh ingredients and cooked-to-order food. Started 23 years ago, this franchise serves hand-breaded chicken tenders and wings that are never frozen. Diners pick from 14 house-made sauces.
Customers can order salads, sandwiches, chicken and waffles, macaroni and cheese, loaded fries, fried pickles, and fried okra. Everything takes inspiration from Southern cooking traditions.
Jackie Lobdell, vice president of franchise development, said the deal “reflects the momentum” that the company “continues to build with experienced operators who see the long-term potential of a chicken-first brand built to scale,” according to NJ Biz.
“New Jersey is a high-opportunity market, and this deal underscores the confidence operators have in our model, our flexibility, and our growth trajectory,” Lobdell said.
The chain pursues growth through franchising both in the U.S. and internationally as part of an ongoing expansion effort. Plans call for dozens of new restaurants each year. The company wants to grow from 300 spots to 1,000 domestic units and 500 abroad.
Besides New Jersey, the franchise targets other Northeast markets such as Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.
Franchisees can adapt to different real estate options and trade areas thanks to various formats — freestanding drive-thrus, endcaps, conversions, in-line restaurants, and non-traditional spots.
The company had a spot in Flemington that closed in 2021 just months after opening. A plan to open more than a dozen restaurants in that area was also stopped at that time.
