8 newly-named MnDOT snowplows
The voters have spoken, they are flurrious.
On Tuesday, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) announced the eight names chosen in the sixth annual MnDOT Name A Snowplow contest.
After more than 67,000 initial name submissions, MnDOT narrowed it down to 30 semi-finalists for people to vote on. The top eight names with the most votes were declared the winners.
The news names for snowplows, in order of vote totals:
Oh, For Sleet’s Sake – District 3 (Central Minnesota)
Flurrious George – District 6 (Southeast Minnesota)
Sled Zeppelin – District 2 (Northwest Minnesota)
K Pop Blizzard Hunter – District 8 (Southwest Minnesota)
Minne-Snow-ta – District 1 (Northeast Minnesota)
Every Day I’m Shovelin’ – District 7 (South Central Minnesota)
O Brother, Where Art Plow? – District 4 (West Central Minnesota)
The Life of a Snowgirl – Metro (Twin Cities)
More than 19,000 votes were cast to determine the winning eight names.
With this new batch of snowplow names, MnDOT now has 52 named snowplows. This is the second time that a name has been a pun related to pop star Taylor Swift. There is also a snowplow named Tayor Drift.
