The Minnesota State Patrol said a woman was killed Tuesday morning after she lost control of her vehicle in Mille Lacs County.
The State Patrol said 50-year-old Nicole Elizabeth Freeman of Garrison was traveling south on Highway 169 when she lost control on a curve due to icy road conditions.
As her vehicle lost control, Freeman’s vehicle crossed into the opposite lane of traffic and was t-boned by a northbound KIA Sorento. Both vehicles came to a stop in a ditch.
The Minnesota State Patrol said Freeman was declared dead at the crash scene.
The KIA’s driver, a 42-year-old man, was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the state patrol, but only sustained non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to a hospital for further treatment.
