BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — February 24, 2026
Bloomington police say a Bloomington man was taken to jail Tuesday after investigators serving a search warrant found what they described as multiple images of child sex abuse material on a media storage device.
In a statement released after an inquiry from The Bloomingtonian on Tuesday, the Bloomington Police Department said detectives began investigating the case Jan. 5 after receiving a tip through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Police said a detective determined the report involved an image of a nude female child believed to be under age 12.
Police said investigators sought and received a search warrant to identify the owner of an account linked to an IP address associated with the image. The account was determined to belong to the suspect, 55, of Bloomington, according to police.
Detectives then obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s residence, which was served Tuesday morning, police said. During the search, police said detectives located a media storage device that, upon examination, contained “several images” of child sex abuse material.
The suspect was transported to the Monroe County Jail and remanded to custody for alleged possession of child sex abuse material, a Level 5 felony, police said.
As of Tuesday, The Bloomingtonian found no formal charge listed in the case management system Indiana MyCase. In Indiana, probable-cause affidavits and arrest allegations are subject to review by the Monroe County Prosecutor’s Office before charges are filed in court.
