A person was shot and injured by a U.S. Border Patrol agent in Pittsburg on Sunday, according to a spokesperson from the FBI Boston office.
During the encounter, the subject “allegedly fired at the agent,” who shot back, said Kristen Setera, the office’s public affairs advisor, said in an email.
The injured person is now receiving medical care at a local hospital. The FBI didn’t disclose the person’s name, the extent of their injuries or their citizenship or immigration status.
The border patrol agent was uninjured.
The FBI collected evidence from the scene and is investigating the matter with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the District of New Hampshire.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
