Students auditioned on prepared etudes, major and minor scales, and sight-reading, competing against more than 1,000 students from across Region VI — an area that includes Harrison, the Bentonville and Rogers schools, and communities throughout northwest Arkansas. The qualifying students took part in a two-day clinic across four honor bands, wrapping up with performances at Bentonville West on Jan. 31st.

Five Mountain Home High School students went a step further, earning spots in the Arkansas All-State Bands. They auditioned February 7th at the University of Central Arkansas and will participate in a three-day clinic in Hot Springs, with final concerts scheduled for Feb. 21st. The All-State qualifiers are senior trombonist Evan Franklin, a two-time All-State selection; senior percussionist Caiden Kaspar, earning the honor for the third time; junior trumpeter Alan Magdaleno, also a two-time selection; and sophomores Ruby Hargett on flute and Jakub Walls on clarinet.

The high school band takes the stage Sunday, March 8th at 2:30, while the 7th grade middle school and both junior high bands perform Tuesday, May 10th at 7:00. Both concerts will be held in Dunbar Auditorium and are free and open to the public.
