MHPS school board accepts multiple resignations; approves 26/27 calendar

The Mountain Home Public Schools Board of Education accepted resignations, approved the 2026/27 school calendar and a salary schedule amendment for a lead mechanic during its regular meeting Thursday night, which lasted about 90 minutes.Board members voted to adopt Calendar Option A following recommendations based on input from the PPC, CPPC and staff voting.The board also approved an amendment to the salary schedule for a lead mechanic position, aimed at attracting qualified employees to maintain the district’s transportation fleet.Facility Manager Chris Knight presented an update on ongoing facility projects.
Board member Tommy Knight recommended conducting a needs assessment for each district fundraiser to determine its necessity, noting he had received complaints about an elementary fundraiser. Superintendent Allison Dewey said the schools involved have already indicated they will pursue a different fundraiser next school year to support activity funds.





The Board accepted multiple personnel changes including several retirements, resignations, a transfer and a contract unfulfillment.

Among the changes; CFO Leah Cotter, high school teacher Kim Fowler and Nelson-Wilkes-Heron teacher Mary Ellen Kressin will retire at the end of the school year. High school teacher/coach Wil Norris and Communications and Teacher Licensure Coordinator Jennifer Crawford submitted resignations, with Crawford’s effective March 31.

During public comment, Mrs. Partney asked the board to support staff by reminding the community that Arkansas Code 6-17-106 protects school employees from insult or abuse, saying employees should not have to tolerate such behavior. Other board members voiced agreement.
