Shenandoah Valley Schools expected to return in person Friday

SHENANDOAH – The Shenandoah Valley School District is expecting to be back in person Friday after water issues forced a move to virtual instruction this week.

Superintendent Brian Waite shared the update with district families Thursday afternoon.

The move comes as water pressure and water service had been restored to most portions of the Shenandoah water system, save for Lost Creek and portions west.

“With this progress, the Shenandoah Valley School District anticipates returning to in-person instruction on Friday, February 20, 2026,” Waite shared. “We also want families to know that the district will be able to provide water for students and staff while they are in school. We will continue to monitor updates closely and will communicate immediately if anything changes.”

“Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and support as we worked through this unexpected situation,” Waite added. “We look forward to welcoming our students back to school tomorrow.”

Students in the district had been learning remotely since Monday as the former Municipal Authority of the Borough of Shenandoah water system, now operated by Aqua Pennsylvania, struggled.
