MH school district clarifies for voters- no millage increase on March ballot

Mountain Home Public Schools is reminding voters that they are not being asked to approve a millage increase when they see millage language on their ballots for the March 3 Preferential Primary.District officials said in a statement Monday that the language appearing on ballots is required by law and simply reflects the current tax rate already in place. The ballot wording states, “The total proposed school tax levy of 32.16 mills represents the same rate presently being collected.” According to the district, the statement follows requirements outlined in the Arkansas Constitution and is included even when no change is proposed.
