A man who was found naked inside the Minnesota State Capitol in July has been found incompetent, according to new court filings.

Dominic Peace faces one count of second-degree burglary of a government building. The Ramsey County Attorney’s Office said it intends to continue prosecuting the case once Peace “has restored to competency.”

A Ramsey County judge ordered Peace be referred for civil commitment.

Capitol security notified Minnesota State Patrol of an “emotionally disturbed person” who was naked inside the Senate Chambers in July.

Peace made several claims to law enforcement, including that he was the governor and that the Capitol was his house. Investigators found a set of clothes in the women’s bathroom and standing water, indicating he may have bathed there.

Surveillance footage showed Peace going into the Capitol and using a wedge to prop open a door. He then returned after hours.

Law enforcement brought Peace to the hospital for a mental health evaluation, and he was released.

He then reappeared on the Capitol grounds twice the next day, with a second trip to the hospital in between.
