AI chatbots like ChatGPT score almost perfectly on medical licensing exams. But how accurate is it when a regular person uses a chatbot to look up their symptoms?

A new study published in Nature Medicine determined that when everyday users asked about medical symptoms, the chatbot only gave the correct diagnosis one-third of the time.

Because 40 million people worldwide turn to ChatGPT for health-related questions every day, we asked KSTP health expert Dr. Archelle Georgiou what this means for patients.
