Over 217,000 workers shared their thoughts. All worked at U.S. companies with at least 1,000 employees. Companies with 1,000 to 5,000 workers got labeled midsize. Those exceeding 5,000 were counted as large employers.
Workers answered without revealing their names, which let them speak their minds. Would they tell others to work there? They rated pay, workplace conditions, benefits, and chances to move up. They also weighed in on past jobs from the last two years and other workplaces they knew through their field or through people they knew.
Six drug and biotech companies from the state made the cut, according to ROI-NJ.com. Novo Nordisk of Plainsboro grabbed the top spot at No. 42. Merck & Co. of Kenilworth followed at No. 57, with Johnson & Johnson of New Brunswick at No. 140. Sanofi of Bridgewater landed at No. 572. Bayer in Whippany came in at No. 597, and Novartis in East Hanover at No. 651. Back in 2024, Forbes named Novo Nordisk the best large employer.
Quest Diagnostics of Secaucus and Becton Dickinson of Franklin Lakes also earned recognition in medical equipment and services. Cooper University Health Care of Camden ranked at No. 114 among health-care providers.
Four finance, insurance, and real estate companies from New Jersey appeared on the list. TD Bank of Cherry Hill came in at No. 137. Horizon Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Jersey in Newark hit No. 236, Prudential Financial of Newark at No. 285, and Chubb in Warren at No. 511.
PSEG of Newark ranked at No. 88. BMW Group of Woodcliff Lake secured No. 191. Spencer Gifts of Egg Harbor Township grabbed No. 248, while Chanel of Piscataway ranked at No. 266. Automatic Data Processing of Roseland landed at No. 351.
Forbes and Statista have compiled this ranking for 11 consecutive years.
