Main Street Sports Group, the owner of FanDuel Sports Network, announced on Tuesday that it will close its Minneapolis operations and lay off approximately 20 employees this spring.
The notice filed with the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development states the layoffs are expected to take effect beginning on April 14, at the conclusion of the NHL and NBA regular seasons.
FanDuel Sports Network North is the regional broadcaster for the Timberwolves, Lynx and Wild. The network had previously aired Twins games as Bally Sports North until its contract lapsed going into the 2025 season; MLB now directly produces the Twins’ telecasts through Twins.TV.
In a statement, Main Street Sports Group CEO David Preschlack said Wild and Timberwolves broadcasts will go on as planned and “final decisions have not been made” regarding the future of FanDuel Sports Network North.
“FanDuel Sports Network is continuing to broadcast NBA and NHL games as we engage in discussions with our partners about our go-forward plans,” Preschlack said. “While final decisions have not been made, we have issued WARN notices to employees, as required by law, in connection with potential workforce impacts that could occur in the coming months. Any and all aspects of the WARN notices can be revoked at any time. We remain committed to transparency and fair treatment of our employees.”
It’s unclear how the layoffs will affect broadcasts for the Lynx, who begin their season on May 10.
