A massive buffet featuring sushi, hibachi and international cuisine is coming to Sioux Falls.
Ocean Buffet will fill the former Chuck E. Cheese space at 2600 S. Louise Ave.
Owner Amy Chen has 10 restaurants, mostly in North Dakota, with some on the West Coast.
“We’re going to have a big sushi bar, we’ll hire a sushi chef to make the sushi in front of the customer and make it fresh and then also the hibachi, and we’re going to do all kind of Asian food, pizza, kind of international (cuisine),” she said, adding a create-your-own pho also will be an option.
At more than 12,000 square feet, the restaurant also will include steak and some American foods, Chen said.
“You can go there and get everything,” she said. “It’s going to be a big kitchen.”
Chen plans to open a similar concept in Fargo in April. Delays with permitting in Sioux Falls meant she now will be opening here potentially in September.
Chuck E. Cheese closed nearly two years ago. Broker Scott Blount of Lloyd Cos. finalized a deal with Chen last fall.
“It’s a massive restaurant,” he said, adding that there had been interest from multiple users before a deal was reached.
“It will be nice. What they want to do is very cool.”
